Xcel Rhythmic Gymnastics Team

Rhythmic Xcel is a low-stress competitive program that allows children to compete with less training time and experience, allowing them to have more time for activities outside of gymnastics.
Rhythmic Xcel gives children a chance to perform and compete soon after starting rhythmic gymnastics, even with minimal practice time each week. It gives children of all abilities, backgrounds, and commitment levels an opportunity to gain confidence and enjoy the sport.
The rules for Rhythmic Xcel have been formed with a focus on personal progress rather than competitive placement. Therefore, athletes can start quickly and be challenged and happy at a single level for multiple years.
There are five levels of this program, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Platinum.
Levels Bronze and Silver are for athletes who are just beginning to perform, while levels Gold, Diamond and Platinum are for seasoned competitors. Xcel Bronze athletes perform in a maximum of 2 routines: floor (apparatus free) routine and ball routine. More advanced Xcel athletes perform in a maximum of 3 routines.
Gymnasts are judged on their individual skills and can receive a maximum score of 100 points on a routine.
At ASCA, we require athletes to attend one year of recreational classes or pre-team before joining the Xcel team. Exceptions may be made for those who have performed in a related sport. This is a wonderful program that allows girls to have the opportunity to perform and receive feedback on the apparatus and body skills they have learned.
Our Xcel gymnasts practice 6 to 12 hours per week depending on age and level.
Qualification: Gymnasts must have an understanding of basic rhythmic gymnastics apparatus handling, as well as Level A and B body skills, in order to join the Xcel Team. If you are unsure if your child qualifies for an Xcel Team class, please email us with a short video of your child’s best attempt at: splits, bridge (from standing if possible), cartwheel, any balances, turns, and jumps she knows, any apparatus handling she knows with ball, hoop, rope. We will review your video and get back to you with our class and level recommendation
